What luxury packaging manufacturer “Le Sanglier Packaging” says about the value of choosing Algro Volume for their 2025 calendar
When you want to show your customers the quality of your packaging solutions, a great calendar can work in more ways than one.
French luxury packaging manufacturer Le Sanglier Packaging specialises in premium packaging cases for prestigious champagne and spirits. As an illustration of their confidence that Sappi’s Algro Volume paperboard provides a perfect solution for their packaging requirements, they have also chosen Algro Volume as the material to create their 2025 calendar.
The annual calendar, which Le Sanglier Packaging has produced since 2010, is sent to customers and limited to 2,000 prints only. It serves as both a marketing showcase for the manufacturer’s latest innovations and investments and as a way to demonstrate their finishing capabilities – meaning the choice of paper is critical. This year, it introduces Algro Volume as a new board that boasts exceptional whiteness and allows for Le Sanglier’s creative finishings, such as cold transfer and deep embossing.
Le Sanglier conducted extensive print trials with Algro Volume 240 g/m2 and found it met all their criteria. While the cover is made from FibreForm®, the calendar’s pages have been printed on Algro Volume.
For 2025, Le Sanglier Packaging has planned to use Algro Volume for it’s premium beverage packaging range. The brand produces some 40 million folding cases for many of the most well-known names in champagne, wine, cognac, whisky and rum. After careful product evaluation, Le Sanglier found that Algro Volume demonstrated qualities essential for luxury packaging applications – superior whiteness, surface smoothness and excellent performance with both cold foil transfer and structural-embossing finishes.
With Sappi’s Maastricht mill also being no more than 200km from Le Sanglier – and drawing a significant portion of its energy from renewable sources (see below) – there were further, strong sustainability incentives for Le Sanglier to choose Algro Volume.
Sappi’s Algro Volume is a premium paperboard that has a full-coated top side and a lick-coated reverse. It features a distinctively silky top surface, complemented by exceptional whiteness and brightness to make designs truly pop. Its enhanced stiffness and hard-wearing quality make it ideal for demanding packaging applications.
As Le Sanglier Packaging can testify, it also provides outstanding results across printing and finishing processes – everything from die-cutting, embossing and hot foil stamping to cold foil transfer and varnishing. These attributes offer a premium solution for a range of end uses, from high-quality packaging and graphic applications to calendars, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The paper also comes with strong environmental certifications, including FSC™ (FSC™ C015022) or PEFC (PEFC/07-32-76) Chain of Custody certifications. Manufactured at Sappi's Maastricht facility in the Netherlands, Algro Volume benefits from recent sustainability investments including new e-boilers powered primarily by solar and wind energy. These are set to reduce the plant’s greenhouse gas emissions by 30% within five years – and so lower the carbon footprint of the paper itself.
