Algro Volume: Elevating print and packaging sustainably
Did you know that at Sappi, we're not just passionate about creating innovative solutions like our brand-new Algro Volume paperboard? We're also deeply committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint.
In 2020, Sappi Europe released its Decarbonisation Roadmap, which outlines our energy-related sustainability targets to be met by 2025. This includes a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 25% alongside an 11% increase in renewable energy (both compared to 2019). Read here how our decarbonisation roadmap leads directly to improved sustainability for customers and partners.
One of our key decarbonisation initiatives at our Maastricht mill in the Netherlands, where Algro Volume is made, has been the installation of a new boiler that uses electricity – and works on a second have already begun. The e-boilers convert electrical power predominantly from solar and wind into steam to power the plant and are set to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 14% by 2026 and 30% by 2030, with these continuing to decrease year after year as the share of renewable energy in the electricity grid continues to grow.
So, by choosing Algro Volume for your projects, you're not only elevating your brand's story through the board’s high whiteness and brightness, its superb printability as well as its enhanced stiffness and boosted bulk – but you are also joining our sustainability journey.
