High-impact paper-based solutions for the beverage industry

Sappi exhibits at BrauBeviale in Nuremberg for the very first time.

Sappi Brau Beviale

BrauBeviale, the international trade fair for the production and marketing of beverages, will be taking place in Nuremberg between 26 and 28 November 2024. Sappi, one of the world's leading manufacturers of packaging and specialty papers, will be represented there for the first time. This was prompted by the extensive investments Sappi has made for its label paper business at the Gratkorn mill (Austria) over the past two years. With the wet glue label Parade Label WS the company offers a high wet-strength and akali-resistant paper. It is ideally suited for high-quality labels on returnable beverage bottles as glossy and now also with linen pattern. Additionally, Sappi will be exhibiting its well-known high-quality Fusion Topliner for lamination onto corrugated and solid board for packaging or displays at POS. The company will also be showcasing its premium Algro paperboard range, which is ideal for designing individually packaged beverages or as lamination to solid board. Sappi will be presenting its products at BrauBeviale in Hall 4A, Stand 410.

Parade Label WS for high-quality labels on returnable bottles

The wet-strength and alkali-resistant Parade Label WS label paper is double-coated and features a functional coating on its reverse side. Its outstanding surface enables beverage manufacturers to achieve perfect printing and finishing results and a superior labelling performance. The paper also boasts excellent lay-flat properties and is compatible with all standard printing and finishing techniques. That means they can rest assured that their brand designs will shine on the shelf – time after time. Worry-free production comes courtesy of high labelling performance ensuring minimum downtimes. Parade Label WS is produced in grammages of 65 to 80 g/m² and is available in both non-embossed and embossed versions.

Parade Label WS Linen: the attractive linen-embossed option

With its latest product innovation – Parade Label WS Linen – Sappi is continuing the success story of its wet strength wet glue label products. The new linen embossing version is not only enhancing the look and feel, but it also optimises the label’s functionality, for example by improving label separability and greatly reducing static adhesion. Parade Label WS Linen also ensures that labels can be washed off easily when preparing bottles for reuse. The paper is available in grammages of 65, 68, 70, 75 and 80 g/m².

Fusion Topliner: perfect for highlighting the brand at POS

Fusion Topliner is a premium virgin fibre liner for high-quality corrugated board applications. With its distinctive aesthetics, such as exceptional brightness, impressive whiteness and elegant, silky surface, it has been ensuring high impact and brand differentiation at POS for years. In addition to an outstanding print image, enhanced colour reproduction and vivid representation of graphics, Fusion Topliner features fast ink drying, high stability and excellent creasing performance. The liner combines consistent high quality with processing efficiency, ensuring perfect results, even for the most complex applications. Fusion Topliner is perfectly suited for lamination to corrugated board or greyboard for multipacks of wine or beer, for example, and is available in grammages of 90, 100, 115, 135, 160, 180 and 200 g/m².

Fresh fibre Algro Design and Algro Volume paperboards for creative freedom in packaging design

Sappi will also be presenting its Algro Design and its brand-new Algro Volume premium paperboards for high-quality packaging at BrauBeviale. The premium board range delivers a perfect balance between functionality, versatility and aesthetics – and opens up an exceptionally diverse range of packaging design options. It stands out with its brilliant colour reproduction and excellent contrasts as well as excellent shape and converting properties. Algro Volume, the latest addition to the Algro paperboard family, pumps up the volume and really delivers on strength.

Both brands are great for print embellishments, like varnishing, cold transfer, hot stamping and embossing, for example. In the beverage industry, Sappi’s paperboard portfolio is ideally suited for lamination to greyboard for individually packaged beverages such as wine, champagne, whiskey, spirits and brandies. Algro Design is available in grammages ranging between 160 and 400 g/m², Algro Volume is available in grammages of 220, 240, 270, 300, 330, 350 and 380 g/m².
