Plastic Free World: Sappi presents solutions for the replacement of plastic
With its environmentally friendly barrier papers, Sappi presented an effective formula for renewable alternatives that can replace plastic in the future at the Plastic Free World conference.
The event dedicated to the discussion of material innovations, technologies and solutions for the circular economy, Plastic Free World, took place on 10-11 November at the Koelnmesse in Germany.
More than 1,200 participants from all parts of the supply chain showed off their innovations and chatted about the overall objective – to reduce plastic waste in the environment. Among them were large manufacturers, brand owners, retailers, material experts, circular economy experts and governmental organisations.
Sappi welcomes visitors from all over the world
And as a silver sponsor of the event, Sappi was, of course, also there. We welcomed visitors from all over the world to our stand, where we presented our entire range of products for the needs of today and tomorrow and held numerous exciting discussions about the trends in the industry.
The enormous response once again demonstrated the importance of the innovations presented by Sappi for the plastic-free packaging industry of the future as well as bio-based alternatives to plastic materials.
We were also able to experience and discuss at first hand how diverse the demands and needs are for barrier papers from Sappi, so that we can bring about a lasting improvement in application performance as plastic-free alternatives in food and non-food industries.
Valida and Symbio products – from Sappi’s Biotech division – were also showcased, supporting our vision to bring solutions for the circular economy. Our cellulose fibre based products offer a range of sustainable opportunities in coatings, building and construction , as well as household equipment and the automotive industry.
Wood fibres for a sustainable future
All in all, Sappi has shown a holistic approach of utilising the full potential of wood fibre. We were delighted to meet our customers and partners in this way and to continue helping them to reduce their use of plastics and fossil materials through our wood fibre-based solutions.
One thing is clear: Sappi’s solutions are, and will remain, crucial to the development of sustainable alternatives to plastic and other fossil fuel-based products. We are excited to see where the next steps in this journey will take us and we hope to see lots of visitors again at next year’s Plastic Free World 2022.
